Life Update: School, Summer and More

It's been awhile since I posted a life update so I thought I should write one. As many of you already know, I was two units short of being accepted to UCLA. My previous school had told me that 18 units would transfer so I took an additional 42 from community college while still going to FIDM. If I had known, I would've taken one more class to be able to attend UCLA. Unfortunately, people make mistakes that affect other human beings' futures. Am I upset about it? Yes. However, I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and I've found an alternate path - one that life wants me to take.

The same day I found out I wouldn't be attending UCLA, I began to research my other options. For me personally, I know that I need to get my Bachelor's Degree. I applied to Penn State's World Campus that same day. Last Friday, I found out that I was accepted. I will be getting my BA in Advertising/Public Relations: Strategic Communications beginning this fall. This program will be beneficial to me in my industry of work, and I am able to do it all online. I intend on working full-time and making the most of my life. It's also great because I'm not tied down to a specific location. I love Los Angeles and fully intend on staying here. However, if I get a job opportunity elsewhere then I can move without an issue.

I finish my classes at LAVC this Friday and I cannot wait to have a summer. I've been in school for two years straight now. My last true summer was in 2015 and that's kind of insane to think about. I'm excited about having more than two weeks of no homework. While I like school, having constant homework for almost two years is less than ideal. I plan on traveling to Montana for the 4th of July and of course, I'll be going to the Bay Area for Giants games.

For everyone who has stood by me and this whole crazy college situation, thank you. As frustrating as its gotten, it has been great to hear words of encouragement and understanding from others. I graduate in the middle of June at the Staples Center and I will be dropping a review of FIDM once I get that diploma in my hand. I don't think anyone else should have to go through what I did. Thankfully, I have a platform to get the word out about the school so others can get a raw look at what happens behind doors.

Over the summer, I intend to post two days per week. I haven't had a lot of time for my blog with my crazy school schedule, but my main intention is to curate so much more content. I also want to launch a fashion portion. In addition, I plan on making an apartment tour YouTube video and other advice videos about living in LA. It's going to be a great summer and I can't wait to share it all with you!
